| ChildHope makes a way for your compassion to make a difference in a child’s life. Your gift will help provide a needy child with whatever is needed—food, shelter, clothing, a basic education. It may also give seeds and simple tools or training in nutrition and hygiene, and useful work skills to his or her parents.
Shalom Children’s Home, our orphanage in El Salvador, has 53 children in residence. The school on the campus of the orphanage has about 350 students, many from needy homes in the surrounding neighborhood. An addition to the school has made it possible to increase enrollment to almost 700. In 2005 we added a Special Education instructor to teach 5 new students with disabilities. Children from the orphanage reach out with a feeding program to children living in the city dump outside San Salvador. In the Washington, D.C. area, Kid’s Connection reaches out to children with Sidewalk Sunday School as well as clothing distribution. A building was acquired in 2005 and is being used as a job skills training center. |
